Bharatpur:Delhi Weekend Gateway

We all need someplace to chill to avoid the place where we work. Weekends are the best days of our lives. Sometimes we do not want to go the mall and see movies or go shopping. Often we do not have leaves from office to travel to Shimla or Manali to relax ,so we end up being at home doing nothing and on Sunday we realize that we have wasted our weekend.

I do not want you to do the same. I have come up with one exciting place to relax and enjoy at the same time.I bet most of us have not heard about Bharatpur. Bharatpur is approximately 180 Km from Delhi. It is in the east of Rajasthan and it is the same city where we have famous Bird Sanctuary, now called Keoladeo National Park .

I went with my three friends from Delhi. We booked a private ac cab which took Rs 9/km. We headed towards Bharatpur on Saturday morning at 6 am in August,2019. We had our breakfast at JollyGo. It is on Yamuna Express Way,Jewar. You can have Chinese, Indian, Pizza, Cafe, Fast food, Asian food. We had Paper Dosa and Tea and Poha( which my caring mom made for me and my friends). We used the public convenience and rested ourselves. Thereafter we continued our journey and back on expressway. It is very smooth travel on yamuna expressway. While crossing mathura, we came across people who were selling fresh pink Guava. We bought some guava with salt and they were yummy. Must try!

We reached our destination resort Kadamb Kunj Resort at around 11:00 am. We already booked it through Make My Trip with good deal at Rs 2200/night for 2 people including breakfast. There are many more options you can choose from the hotel booking site. I booked this as it was cheaper from other hotels and it has a good swimming pool and rooms. We had bath ,did lunch and got ready to go to Lohagarh Fort.

Lohagarh Fort(Iron Fort) is now a Government Museum which was constructed by Bharatpur Hindu rulers and holds a superb history against Mughals and British Army. You would be stunned from the beauty of fort. It is well maintained. It has an entry fee of Rs 20 per person. You would find amazing bow and arrow, shields, knifes, bullets and other things used during the battles. You would also find the meeting room(Darbaar) ,clothes ,kitchen items and other stuffs used at that time. The most stupendous thing of the fort is that you can have 360 degree view of Bharatpur from the top of the fort.

After having a historical tour of the fort we went back to our resort. The most exciting thing of our resort is swimming pool.We changed our clothes and went to the pool. It was so calm and relaxing. We took some wine glasses and volley ball from the staff as well. We had our drinks in those glasses in pool and there were no one else except us. We enjoyed our time playing music, dancing, swimming and chilling.

The next day ,i.e Sunday ,we checkout from hotel at around 12 pm and went to Bird Sanctuary. The place has an entry fee of Rs 100/person. You can take a bicycle, rickshaw, jeep or walk to cover the place. We preferred to walk as the weather was cool enough to keep us engaged. You can find Neelgaaye, Deer,Cows,Monkeys and a wide range of Birds. You can spot many photographers as well . There are many benches for people to sit and enjoy the calmness of the place. There is a small canteen also in between the stretch of around 5km view of flora and fauna .

We spent 3 hours enjoying the splendid view and went back to our way to Delhi. In the mid, you can go to Mathura and spend some time in the lap of holy place and temples. We went to only Bankey Bihari Temple in Mathura and reach Delhi by 10 pm.There are timing of the temple i.e 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. & 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Summer) and 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Winter). Visit accordingly.

It was a well sorted weekend gateway from Delhi. No leaves taken from office :p. Write comments below if you find this helpful and tell your story how you enjoyed your bharatpur trip.
